One of the primary rules in golf and the simplest is checking your scoreboard before you sign. Despite the simplicity of this rule, it is still surprising that many headlines keep carrying high profile cases of disqualification.
This week, the offender of this golf rule was Wyndham Clark. It is only left to our vivid imagination to try and understand what Clark’s frustration was, when he signed for a seven-over-par 79 on Thursday at the Players Championship, this being the second highest score in the field.
Clark’s round at TPC Sawgrass came with eight bogeys, two birdies, as well as one double bogey. It was, however, unfortunate, that one of the bogeys, ( the one that came with the 392-yard par-4 fourth hole), was marked to be a part. In the case of Wyndham Clark, this error was worth a disqualification. The PGA Tour Championship department made the announcement on Twitter.
This week is said to be the first time that Clark will be competing in the Players Championship, and it also marks his first full year on tour. Clark, who is 25 years old, is just coming out, while the season is just heating up. He was 17 at the Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens.
