Exercises for Aged Golfers

sofia 20 December, 2019

When age begins to tell on a person, it”s difficult to hide it. One of the benefits of golf is that it can also be played by older persons. In fact, it is widespread amongst them, and they mostly use the game to relax. Some close business deals, while others win lots of money, making bets on the game.

The major challenge, however, is the significant effects of old age. When golfers get to the age of 50, it is essential that they start doing regular exercises. Their body begins to tire, and their performance declines. If they are able to do daily activities, it will slow down the ageing process for them.

Older people are usually expected to do stretching exercises to improve their flexibility. Some of the stretching exercises they can do include the following.

Simple Stretches

You can do stretches at home, or in the office, depending on where it is comfortable for you. Stretching can be done anywhere. You can choose to sit down and stretch or do a standing stretch exercise.

Use Dumbbells for Stretching

If you want to get a better swing, you can do stretches using dumbbells. This gives you additional muscle strength. It is essential to stay fit as a golfer to maintain a consistent winning streak. Doing stretching exercises will help your body become more flexible, and in turn, will give you greater swings.

Other types of stretching exercises which you can also do, are hip stretching. You can do a hip flexor stretch by adopting a sitting position to extend your hips. Doing these types of stretching exercises will help you stay healthy, so you can keep playing golf as you grow older. It will also improve your game to keep winning. The primary benefit you stand to get by doing stretching exercises is that you become more flexible enough to give a straight swing.

Also, as you get older, your golf equipment should change. You will need to substitute your long irons for a hybrid version, and you will also need to change your other golf equipment to the ones which are more comfortable for your age. This is to avoid you sustaining any injuries during the game and to give you a better chance of winning.
